In a world driven by constant connectivity and the fear of missing out (FOMO), finding the joy in missing out (JOMO) has become an essential pursuit. I've been banging the drum for JOMO for a while but I've noticed more recently that it's getting a bit more air time.
You don't have to do all of the things. And there can be an immense joy in missing out.
The FOMO Phenomenon: The Fear of Missing Out has become a pervasive aspect of our digital age. We're bombarded with the highlights of others' lives on social media, leading to comparisons and an unease about what we might be missing. But is living in a perpetual state of comparison and anxiety really the way to thrive?
Discovering JOMO: Instead of being driven by FOMO, what if we actively chose the joy of missing out? JOMO is about reveling in the moments of solitude, the quiet joys, and the appreciation of the now. It's an intentional shift toward a more deliberate and fulfilling way of living.
