Are you ready to start a Sunday reset?
Are you ready to bring order, calm and most importantly, rest to your week?
I was one of these people who never really lent too much weight to things like a Sunday reset. A reset for what? I didn’t want to be spending my weekend doing housework, so what was I supposed to be doing?
Well, as with most things a Sunday reset was one of those things that I thought I didn’t need but turns out, when I tried it, was something that added so much value to my life. Go figure.
So, what is a Sunday reset?
Would it be extremely blaise of me to say it’s a reset that takes place on a Sunday? Ok, ok, it’s of course much more than that but at the very crux of it it is a reset, a sequence of events that works for you and your family, that helps you rest, recuperate and reset your home and life to get you ready for the week ahead.
Before I decided to give the Sunday reset a try I always thought just a bit of a rest on a Sunday was all I needed to get through, but really it didn’t set me up for the week ahead and I always ended up flying into a new week feeling totally unprepared.
When I adopted some of the aspects of the Sunday reset I felt I was more rested, calmer, and felt more able to tackle the week.
So, what IS it?
I’m aware I haven’t quite shared what the Sunday reset is, and other than talking around the subject I haven’t really given you a whole load of information have I?
Well, the complicated part is the Sunday reset doesn’t really have to look any particular way, and instead can be completely created to fit you and your life. But don’t worry, I am not going to leave you with that vague description of anything. Instead, I am going to walk you through a number of different things you might want to try and implement to create a Sunday reset that feels right for you.
1. Reset your house
This is the first one for me because in resetting my house I am able to bring a level of calm that filters through in everything else I do to prepare for the week. I used to follow along with those home cleaning things aimed at parents but it never worked for me and left me feeling never quite on top of it. Instead, I found that if my house was somewhat reset and organised on a Sunday night it set the perfect intention for the week ahead.
This isn’t to say you have to do all of your housework on a Sunday, it doesn’t really matter when you do your main tidying and cleaning of your home, but the intention of resetting things so it’s tidy, calm and organised before you go to bed on a Sunday means you will thank yourself on Monday morning. Waking up to a new week with everything in order makes the whole day and week feel better and more manageable. For you this might look like making sure your kitchen is organised ahead of the week, resetting or putting away the kid’s toys or resetting your bedroom.
When your home is somewhat organised and reset it will help to establish a level of calm that will feel good. It is a great place to begin.
2. Nurture your body & mind
We’ve all sung along to the lyrics “Easy like Sunday morning”, well that’s the kind of vibe we want for our Sunday reset. We all lead incredibly busy lives, and one of the first steps in slowing down and simplifying our lives begins when we take time from ourselves. You’ve heard cliches such as “you can’t pour from an empty cup” and it’s true. When we hustle hard we burn out, and when we burn out we are no help to anyone. So we have to nurture our body and mind.
For me that looks like mindful moments in my every day life, meditation, gratitude, yoga and relaxation. If you’re here I know the need for this time will resonate with you too.

3. Get outside
Getting outside is such a flippant way to tell everyone that they need to get that vitamin D on their faces. Well, get outside, you need that vitamin D on your face. If you can prioritise time in the morning sun and spend 10-20 minutes in the sun, but if you can’t do it in the morning then any time is better than none at all.
I know not everyone loves the outside but the healing powers of vitamin D are incredible, so whether you love being outside or not, if you can prioritise being out in the sunshine for at least 10-20 minutes you will do wonders for your health.
4. Nourish your body
By nourishing your body I mean, in this instance at least, about nourishing your body with food. Healthy food obviously is best, but eating food that makes you feel good too is even better. Eat the doughnut and enjoy the cake if that’s what makes you feel good. Choose an apple or a pear if that’s your choice. Do what makes you feel your best.
5. Rest
Rest. Rest is so important and we don’t do enough of it. Make sure you prioritise rest as an integral part of your Sunday reset. Read a book, watch a movie, read some blogs, listen to some podcasts. However you wind down do that, and enjoy a rest ahead of the week.
A Sunday reset can be as simple or as varied as you wish, and ultimately it needs to be something that works for you. You can use these tips as jumping off points to explore how a Sunday reset might work for you, or you can create your own unique Sunday reset.
Every week I will be here offering you tips and advice on how to get the best out of feeling your best, and helping you prepare for the week ahead.
